Oon tänä kesänä hurahtanut second hand -shoppailuun kovemmin kuin koskaan aiemmin! Muun muassa tässä aiemmassa postauksessa näkynyt pellavableiseri oli huikea löytö Kierrätyskeskuksesta, kun taas tämän postauksen ja näiden kuvien täydellinen valkoinen Filippa K:n kesäpaita löytyi viime viikolla Kaivarin Kanuunasta. Mulle on myös kehittynyt sellainen oma tietty second hand -shoppailustrategia, jonka oon todennut toimivaksi tavaksi tehdä löytöjä. Nyt siis mun strategia jakoon teillekin, toivottavasti tästä on apua ja hyötyä löytöjen tekemisessä joillekin teistä!
This summer I've fallen in love with second hand shopping more than ever before! For example the linen blazer in this post was a bargain of a find from the Recycling Centre, whereas this perfect white summer blouse by Filippa K. was found at Kaivarin Kanuuna in Helsinki last week. I've also managed to create a bit of a second hand shopping strategy for myself to help me make the best second hand finds. Today I'm sharing my strategy with you guys as well in the hopes that this will be of use and help for you too!
1. Ostan vain juttuja, jotka haluaisin vaatekaappiini myös uutena / normaalihintaisena. Näin ollen kaappiin tulee hankittua oikeasti käyttöön päätyviä vaatteita, eikä vain edullisen hinnan sokaisemana tehtyjä hutiostoksia jotka jäävät pölyttymään käyttämättöminä kaapin perälle.
2. Katson tarkkaan vaatteen merkin/materiaalin. Kirpputoreilta ja muista second hand -liikkeistä voi tehdä ihan mielettömiä löytöjä kunhan pitää silmät auki ja vähän tietää mitä etsii ja mitä mistäkin kannattaa maksaa. Voitte olla varmoja, että 10 eurolla myytävä alunperin Primarkista oleva polyesterimekko ei päädy kassalle vaikka mekko olisi kuinka kivannäköinen tahansa, kun taas vaikkapa tästä Filippa K:n paidasta maksoin mielelläni 15 euroa.
1. I only buy things I'd want into my wardrobe if they were new / full priced items. This way I'm only bringing in clothes that I will actually wear too, and not buying items just because they're cheap and I'll end up just forgetting to the back of my closet.
2. I look very closely at the brand / material of the item. You can make some amazing purchases from second hand shops and similar places if you only keep your eyes open, know vaguely what you're looking for and also know what is a reasonable price to pay for a second hand item. You can be sure that I will not pay 10€ for a second hand polyester Primark dress no matter how pretty it is, whereas I was more than happy to pay 15€ for this Filippa K blouse.

3. Tiedän suunnilleen, mitä mistäkin kannattaa etsiä. Helsingissä erityisesti Töölössä sijaitseva Relove (liike myös Viiskulmassa!) ja Kaivarin Kanuuna on paikkoja, joissa myydään ns. "parempaa tavaraa", ja itse löysin juurikin Relovesta viime viikolla muun muassa Samujin villapaidan 25 eurolla ja Massimo Duttin kauluspaidan viidellä eurolla. Relove on kyllä muutenkin aivan ihana paikka ihan vain katseluun ja hengailuun vaikkei löytöjä tekisikään, sillä second hand -putiikin yhteydessä toimiva kahvila on sekin mielettömän viihtyisä! Kierrätyskeskuksista ja UFF:eilta voi niistäkin tehdä yllättäviä löytöjä kunhan tosiaan vähän tietää mitä etsiä. Zadaassa puolestaan oon rajannut filtterit näyttämään vain tietyt itseäni kiinnostavat brändit, jolloin löytöjen bongaaminen helpottuu vaikken vielä toistaiseksi olekaan itse Zadaan kautta mitään ostanut.
4. Kirpputoreilla käydessä katson pöytien "yleisilmeen" ennen kuin menen tutkimaan lähempää. Jos pöydän tuotteet näyttää jo kauempaa siltä että ne ei mua kyllä kiinnosta, niin mielummin skippaan sen pöydän ihan kokonaan ja siirryn seuraavan itseäni kiinnostavan pöydän luo, josta löydän jotakin paljon todennäköisemmin. Sellaisilla kirpputoreilla, joilla myyjä on itse myymässä (esim. Hietsu), kannattaa muuten myös vähän vilkuilla myyjien tyyliä ja suunnata sellaisten myyjien luo joilla on itselläänkin päällä jotain kivaa!
3. I know what to look for and from where. In Helsinki, especially second hand shop Relove in Töölö and Kaivarin Kanuuna are places where the items are a little bit 'better' when it comes to brands/materials/etc. For example, I found a Samuji jumper for 25€ (they usually retail for around 250€) and a Massimo Dutti shirt for 5€ from Relove just last week. Relove is definitely worth checking if you're ever in Helsinki and into second hand shopping as the place per se looks amazing (definitely insta-worthy!), and they even have a cute and cosy cafe in there too! Of course you can score great bargains from other places too if you just know what to look for like I said earlier. I also frequently check some of my favourite brands on the second hand shopping app Zadaa although I haven't actually bought anything through it. Not yet at least.
4. When entering a second hand shop / flea market / similar places I always check the general overview of the tables before taking a closer look. If the items don't appeal to me from afar I don't even bother getting nearer the table, but rather skip that one and move on to the next table that actually catches my attention and from where I'm much more likely to find something. And in those locations where the seller is present I also check what the sellers are wearing and what their style is. If the seller has a nice outfit on, I'm much more likely to check what they're selling too!
