My VIA Character Strengths

Törmäsin VIA Institute on Character -organisaation ilmaiseen luonteenvahvuudet -testiin ihanan ja inspiroivan Adaman eräällä videolla. Oon aiemminkin maininnut kuinka kaikenlaiset itsensä kehittämiseen ja ymmärtämiseen liittyvät testit, kirjat ja aiheet on ihan mun suosikkeja, joten totta kai lähdin innolla klikkailemaan vastauksia tähänkin testiin. Ajattelin, että voisi olla kiva idea jakaa mun testitulokset täällä teidänkin kanssa, joten tän postauksen myötä pääsette tutustumaan muhun taas vähän paremmin. Omasta mielestäni tämän Character Strengths -testin tulos kyllä kuvaa mua melkoisen hyvin, mutta olisi hauska kuulla olisitteko te osanneet odottaa multa tällaisia tuloksia!

I came across the free Character Strengths test by VIA Institute on Character thanks to the lovely and inspiring Adama. I've previously mentioned how I love all kinds of tests, books, etc. that have to do with self development and learning, so naturally I was instantly drawn to this test too. I thought it'd be fun to share my Character Strengths test results with you too, and so with this post you can get to know me a little bit better again. Personally I think the results are pretty accurate, but I'd love to know whether you would have expected these results from me!

VIDEO: Nice Travel Vlog Part 1

Kuvasin meidän Nizzan reissusta myös vlogia, ja tässäpä nyt ensimmäinen osa kahdesta! Mietin pitkään, laitanko kaiken kuvatun materiaalin yhdelle ja samalle reissuvlogille vai jaanko videon kahteen osaan, mutta kuten huomaatte niin päädyin jakamaan sisällön kahdelle erilliselle vlogille. Käännyin myös teidän puoleen ja kysyin Instagram Storyssa kumpi vaihtoehto olisi parempi, ja kaksi vlogia vei nippanappa voiton sielläkin. Tällä ensimmäisellä vlogilla pääsette mukaan meidän saapumispäivän iltaan ja ensimmäiseen kokonaiseen päivään Nizzassa, ja seuraavassa vlogissa sitten puolestaan pääsette seuraamaan mun/meidän toista päivää Ranskan Rivieralla - pysykää siis kuulolla niin täällä blogissa kuin YouTubenkin puolella! 

I vlogged our trip to Nice, and here's the first part of two travel vlogs from that weekend! I was thinking whether to put all the content into one video or separate the vlog in two, and as you can see I opted for the latter. I also turned to you guys for help over on my Instagram Story, and the majority, although a tiny one, of you also voted for two videos instead of one. The One Second Hand Shop You Should Visit in Nice

Huomaatteko kuvissa mitään uutta? Nizzan maisemien lisäksi siis? Vähän jo Instagram Storyni puolella vilautin uusinta ja ehkäpä elämäni parhainta second hand -ostosta ikinä, ja nyt on aika paljastaa mitä sieltä Instagramissa vilahtaneesta Chloén dust bagista löytyikään.

Do you notice anything new in these photos? Alongside the streets of Nice I mean? I already teased on my Instagram Story something I'd like to call the best second hand find of my life, and now it's time to reveal what was hiding inside that Chloé dust bag. 



No nämä aivan upeat valkoiset, nyöritetyt, espadrillo-pohjaiset sandaalit! 😍 Nää oli kuulkaas rakkautta ensi silmäyksellä, mutta päätin kuitenkin miettiä vielä hetken aikaa ostoksen kanssa, sillä ajattelin että kyseessä olisi voinut hyvinkin olla vain edullisen hinnan sokaisema mieliteko. Toisena Nizza-päivänä käytiin aamupalan jälkeen aivan nurkan takana hotellistamme sijaitsevassa Dépôt-Vente Luxe Andréa T -nimisessä second hand -myymälässä, ja vitsi mikä aarreaitta sieltä paljastuikaan! Liike keskittyy nimenomaan vain designer- ja premium -brändeihin, ja pieni liike oli pullollaan kenkiä, vaatteita, laukkuja ja asusteita esimerkiksi juurikin Chloélta, Chanelilta, Celineltä, Lanvinilta, Hermés'ltä, DKNY:ltä, Sandrolta, Bash Parisilta... Listaa voisi jatkaa vaikka kuinka pitkälle!

That is this absolutely gorgeous white pair of sandals with laces all the way up to the legs and an espadrille sole! 😍 Believe me when I say that these were love at first sight, but I still decided to leave them in the store the first time we went in, as I was thinking that my love could have easily been initiated purely because of the affordable price. After breakfast on our second day in Nice we popped inside the second hand store Dépôt-Vente Luxe Andréa T that was literally just around the corner from our hotel, and the little boutique turned out to be a true treasure chest! The store only stocks items from designer and premium brands, and the small space was full of shoes, clothes, bags and accessories from brands such as Chloé, Chanel, Celine, Lanvin, Hermés, DKNY, Sandro, Bash Paris... The list could go on and on! 



Tosiaan, päätin kuitenkin ensimmäisellä kerralla jättää sandaalikaunokaiset vielä liikkeeseen, ja lähdin päiväksi käymään Monte Carlon puolella Monacossa. Ajattelin, että jos en saa kenkiä mielestäni niin palaan vielä myöhemmin illalla hakemaan ne. Ja niinhän siinä kävi, että Monte Carlosta palattuani ja yhden rannalla nautitun Aperol Spritzin jälkeen halusin melkeinpä kiirehtiä takaisin, ihan vain ettei kukaan muu ehtisi viedä näitä Chloén sandaaleita ennen mua. Niin ja entäpä se hinta sitten? 49 euroa! Tosin tässä vaiheessa mainittakoon, että tämä superedullinen hinta johtui osittain siitä, että toiseen kenkään on jäänyt jalan päälle asettuvaan valkoiseen keskiosaan hieman jälkiä, mutta ne ovat niin huomaamattomat eivätkä häiritse itseäni ollenkaan ettei se vaikuttanut ostopäätökseeni. Mutta siis ihan näin edullisesti ei suurin osa esimerkiksi juurikaan kengistä ollut myynnissä, vaan hinnat olivat hieman brändistä ja kenkien kunnosta riippuen noin 80-200 euroa. Esimerkiksi äitini löysi Lanvinin kauniit kiilakorkoespadrillot 79 eurolla.

Like I said, I decided to take some distance from the shoes and leave them to the store, and ventured out to a little solo day trip in Monte Carlo in Monaco. I thought that if I can't stop thinking about the shoes I'm going to go back later in the evening to get them. And so it just happened, that after coming back from Monte Carlo and sipping an Aperol Spritz on the beach I pretty much wanted to rush back to the shop to get the shoes just so that nobody else could buy them before me. And what about that price then? 49 euros! Although it has to be mentioned that the super affordable price of this exact pair was partly because of the light stains on the lacings that sit on top of the foot in the other shoe. However, the staining is so light and unnoticeable that it doesn't bother me at all and so it didn't affect my decision to purchase. But that's just to let you know that most of the items stocked are not accompanied with quite that cheap of a price tag. Most of the shoes were priced approximately between 80 and 200 euros, and my mum found a beautiful pair of Lanvin espadrilles for 79 euros for example.

We're celebrating Midsummer here in the Nordics (Finland & Sweden) today, and so I just wanted to wish you all a lovely Midsummer accompanied with these summery shots! Summer Must Do: Day in Porvoo + 5 Places to Visit in the City

Visiitti Porvooseen kuuluu kesään, niin kuin mun kesän bucket listillä totesinkin. Viime viikolla sainkin tän kohdan yliviivattua tältä kesän 2019 listalta kun otettiin Inkan ja Hennan kanssa suunnaksi ihana kesäinen, joskin melko tuulinen, Porvoo. Vietettiin kunnon tyttöjen iltapäivää ensin pitkään lounaalla istuen ja sen jälkeen vain ympäriinsä kävellen, kuvaillen ja söpöissä putiikeissa poiketen. Pistäydyttiin sekä mulle entuudestaan tuttuihin paikkoihin että ihan uusiin tuttavuuksiin, ja tässä tuleekin viisi muistamisen ja vierailun arvoista paikkaa mikäli suunnitteilla on vaikkapa kesälomareissu Porvooseen!

A trip to Porvoo is a summer must for me as I mentioned on my summer bucket list. Last week I was able to tick this off from the 2019 summer bucket list when we headed to the beautiful, albeit quite windy, Porvoo with Inka and Henna. We spent a true girls' afternoon in the city, starting with a long lunch and then just walking around, taking photos and visiting cute little boutiques. We popped in to some of my old favourite spots in Porvoo, as well as in new-to-me places. Take note of these five places if you're planning e.g. a summer holiday trip to Porvoo! 

Kahvilat / Ravintolat - Cafes / Restaurants

Zum Beispiel
Rihkamakatu 2, 06100, Porvoo

Ihan vanhan ja uuden kaupungin rajalla keskustassa sijaitseva viihtyisä ravintola, jonka ulkopuolelle on myös parkkeerattu super söpö jäätelöauto. Terassikin löytyy, vaikka me päädyttiin tuulisen sään vuoksi lounastamaan sisätiloissa. Hyvä ja kattava lounaslista, ja erityisruokavaliot on myös huomioitu! Lounaaseen kuuluu myös runsas leipäpöytä levitteineen ja öljyineen, sekä kahvi/tee. Päädyttiin tänne vielä myöhemmin iltapäivällä jätskeille ennen kotiinlähtöä, ja silloin kun ulkona oleva jätskiauto on jo sulkenut niin Zum Beispielin omia jäätelöitä saa myös sisältä kahvilan puolelta.  Tätä ravintolaa olin itse asiassa silmäillyt jo viime kesänä, joten oli ihanaa päästä tällä kertaa myös syömään Zum Beispielissä!

Just at the border between the old and new town in the city centre is this really cosy restaurant that even has a super cute ice cream van parked outside. They've got a terrace too, but we ended up lunching indoors as the day was quite windy. They've got a good lunch menu and special diets and requirements are catered for as well! Lunch menu orders include also a bread board with multiple varieties of breads, spreads and oils, as well as coffee/tea. We actually ended up going here for a little afternoon ice cream treat before heading back home, and when the ice cream van outside has closed for the day you can get Zum Beispiel's own ice creams inside the cafe. This is actually a restaurant I had had my eyes on already last summer, so it was great to finally go and eat here too!

Cafe Pos3

Tänne ei itse asiassa viime Porvoon reissulla päädytty, mutta Cafe Pos3 on vanha lemppari aiemmilta Porvoo-visiiteiltä. Vanhassa kaupungissa sijaitseva moderniin skandinaavisen minimalistiseen tapaan sisustettu kahvila tarjoilee kahvilaherkkujen lisäksi lounasta ja gelatoa, sekä viikonloppuisin brunssia.

We actually did not go to Cafe Pos3 this time, but this cafe is an old favourite from previous Porvoo visits. The cafe is situated in the old town of Porvoo and the interiors represent beautiful modern Scandinavian style. Alongside your traditional cafe treats, Cafe Pos3 also serves lunch, gelato and brunch on weekends.

Samalla kadulla Zum Beispiel -ravintolan kanssa sijaitsevalle, nimensä mukaisesti kellarissa sijaitsevalle, kirpputorille jatkettiin kätevästi lounaan jälkeen. Henna, Inka ja minä ollaan kaikki aikamoisia kirppistelijöitä ja second hand -shoppailijoita, joten halusin ehdottomasti näyttää tytöille tämän Porvoon kirpputorin jossa kävin itse ensimmäistä kertaa viime kesänä. Tällä kertaa poistuttiin kaikki tyhjin käsin, mutta kirpputori on ehdottomasti vierailun arvoinen ja sieltä voi hyvällä tuurilla tehdä vaikka mitä löytöjä! Esimerkiksi äitini bongasi viime kesänä vanhan piippuleimalla leimatun Arabian kastikekannun vain muutamalla eurolla. 

On the same street with the restaurant Zum Beispiel is this flea market called Kellarikirppis (=cellar flea market), which according to the name you'll find in the cellar of a building. All three of us are really into vintage and second hand shopping at the moment, so I definitely wanted to show this flea market to the girls after first visiting there myself last summer. This time we left empty handed, but this spot is well worth a visit anyway as you can find some true gems in there! For example, last summer my mum found an old vintage design saucer for a mere few euros.

Vanhan ja uuden kaupungin rajalla keskustassa sijaitsevassa By Pia's -myymälässä kävin nyt itse ensimmäistä kertaa, vaikka brändi on kyllä itselleni entuudestaan tuttu. Liike on moderniin maalaisromanttiseen tyyliin sisustettu, valoisa, avara ja tuotevalikoimasta löytyy toinen toistaan ihanampia sisustusjuttuja, kenkiä, vaatteita ja asusteita. Ihan erityisesti ihastuin kaikkiin ihaniin kori-, punos- ja rottinkituotteisiin, ja jos budjetti (ja matkalaukun tila) sallisi, sisustaisin omankin kämppäni niillä enemmän kuin mielelläni! Erityismaininta muuten myös todella ystävällisestä ja lämpimästä palvelusta! By Pia's -liikkeitä löytyy myös ympäri pääkaupunkiseutua, sekä esimerkiksi Turusta, Hangosta, Oulusta ja Norjastakin!

Also on the border of the old and new town of Porvoo is a boutique called By Pia's that I only went inside for the first time now, although I've known the brand for quite a while. The shop is decorated in a modern country romance style and it is light, bright and spacious. The product selection consists of different kinds of beautiful home interior products, shoes, clothes and accessories. I fell in love with especially all of the gorgeous woven and basket items, and if only my budget (and space in suitcase) would allow, I'd be more than happy to decorate my home with some of the pieces too! And a special mention for the super friendly and welcoming customer service! By Pia's has boutiques outside of Porvoo too, e.g. in the capital area and in Turku, Hanko, Oulu and even Norway!

Finform

Lundinkatu 7, 06100, Porvoo

Finform oli mulle ihan uusi tuttavuus, mutta täällä täytyy kyllä päästä käymään seuraavallakin kerralla! Finform myy design-merkkien piensisustustuotteita, kodin tekstiileitä, asusteita ja herkkuja pienessä mutta inspiroivassa myymälässä. Täälläkin oli sisustushoukutuksia vaikka kuinka paljon, ja jos minimalistinen skandinaavinen sisustustyyli inspiroi niin kannattaa ehdottomasti suunnata Finformin liikkeeseen. Porvoon lisäksi Finform löytyy myös Kotkasta.

Finform was a completely new acquaintance for me, but it definitely became a Porvoo must visit! Finfrom sells small interior items from design brands, home textiles, accessories and some delicacies in a tiny but inspiring boutique. There were quite a few home decor temptations in here too, and if the minimalistic Scandinavian interior style is your thing, then make sure to head to Finform! Finform has another store also in Kotka.

My Holiday Capsule Wardrobe for a Long Weekend in Nice, France

Nizzasta on nyt kotiuduttu, ja aloitetaan reissukuvien ja -juttujen läpi käyminen heti pienellä tsekkauksella mun matkavaatekaappiin! Loma oli kokonaisuudessaan todella onnistunut, vaikka visiitti Nizzassa jäikin kyllä vähän lyhyeksi ja mielelläni olisin viihtynyt vielä pidempäänkin. Meillä oli tosiaan vain kaksi kokonaista päivää, perjantai ja lauantai, aikaa tutkia Nizzaa söpöine katuineen, ja reissun lyhyyden vuoksi matkatavaroitakaan ei siis tarvittu mukaan mitenkään erityisen paljon. Pelkillä käsimatkatavoilla mentiin, ja vaatekappaleiden helppo yhdisteltävyys oli kaiken a ja o mun reissuvaatekaapissa tälle pidennetylle viikonloppulomalle Nizzaan. Asusteiden kanssa mulla olikin sitten vähän enemmän pelivaraa, ja kenkiä, laukkua, koruja tai aurinkolaseja vaihtamalla saa super helposti ja kätevästi tuotua vaihtelua lomalookeihin. Mulla on oikeastaan aina tapana pakata liikaa tavaraa mukaan, ja jos rehellisiä ollaan niin olisin aika helposti pärjännyt vieläkin vähemmällä tällä lyhyellä Nizzan lomalla. Mutta mitä siellä mun pienessä matkalaukussa sitten oikein oli pakattuna mukaan?

Back home from Nice, and let's kick off the travel content with a little peek into my holiday wardrobe! All in all, the trip was a great success although I would have really loved to stay a little while longer. We only had two full days, Friday and Saturday, to explore Nice and its cute little streets and alleys, and due to the trip being only a few days there was no need for a huge amount of luggage either. We only had hand luggage for the trip, and mixing and matching different garments and items was the key in my holiday wardrobe for this long weekend trip to Nice. With accessories I had a bit more leeway though, and switching your shoes, bag, jewellery or sunglasses is a super easy way to change up and modify your holiday outfits. I always tend to overpack, and to be honest that was the case on this short trip to Nice as well, and I would've definitely managed perfectly well with even smaller number of items. But what exactly did I bring with me in my hand luggage then?

Sellainen oli siis Suomesta lähtiessä mun laukun sisältö, mutta kuten sanottua vähemälläkin olisi kyllä pärjännyt! Tykkään kuitenkin vaihdella nimenomaan asusteita ja koruja fiiliksen mukaan, ja sen takia niitä lähtikin mukaan vähän reippaammin. Tein Nizzasta myös pari hankintaa eli takaisin Helsinkiin tullessa matkalaukku oli hieman täydempi kuin täältä lähtiessä. Toinen ostoksista on muuten sellainen second hand -löytö että meinasi kyllä järki lähteä, enkä malta odottaa että pääsen näyttämään ja kertomaan mun löydöstä lisää teillekin! Pysykäähän siis kuulolla ;)

So that is what the contents of my small cabin bag looked like when leaving Finland, and like I said I realised I would have not needed to bring even that many things! But I like to choose and change up my accessories and jewellery depending on my mood at any one time, and so that's why I had quite a lot of options on that front. I also made a couple of purchases when in Nice, so my bag was little bit heavier when coming back to Helsinki. One of the purchases I made is actually probably THE BEST second hand find EVER and I nearly lost my mind with it because it's so good. I can't wait to show it to you as well! So stay tuned ;)

Ihanaa perjantaita ja terveisiä Nizzasta! Jos kaikki on mennyt suunnitelmien mukaan, vietän tällä hetkellä pidennettyä viikonloppua Nizzassa yhdessä vanhempieni kanssa. Reissupostauksia on varmasti tulossa myöhemmin, mutta ennen kuin blogissa päästään matkatunnelmiin, niin tässäpä yksi kesäinen asu viime viikolta Helsingin päästä! Instagram puolestaan päivittyy reissujutuilla varmasti vähän reaalimmassa ajassa, eli kurkatkaapa sinne ja erityisesti storyn puolelle mikäli Nizzan maisemat kiinnostaa ja houkuttaa jo nyt.

Hello Friday and greetings from Nice! If everything has gone according to plan I'm currently on a long weekend trip in Nice with my parents. There will of course be travel posts coming your way later, but before we get to holiday mood here on the blog here's an outfit from last week in Helsinki! I'm updating my Instagram and especially stories in bit more real time, so if you already want to see what we get up to during our trip then make sure to keep an eye out on my Instagram account. 



Pellavaa, solmuyksityiskohtia, paperbag-vyötäröiset shortsit, safari-vibat, kultaiset yksityiskohdat, remmisandaalit... Tässä asussa yhdistyy niin joka kesän luottojuttuja kuin tämän kesän trendejäkin. Pellava on tietysti kesämateriaali, joka toistuu vuodesta toiseen hengittävyytensä ansiosta, kun taas paperbag-shortsit ja remmisandaalit kuuluvat tämän kesän trendijuttuihin. Nekin tosin ovat trendejä, jotka palaavat muotiin aina tietyin väliajoin, ja siitä kertoo esimerkiksi myös se että tässä asussa juurikin shortsit ja kengät (ja itse asiassa korvakorut myös!) ovat löytyneet käytettyinä. Kesä on kyllä kirppistelyn ja second hand -shoppailun parasta aikaa, ei voi muuta sanoa!

Linen, tie details, paperbag waist shorts, safari vibes, golden details, strappy sandals... This outfit is a combination of every summer favourites, as well as 2019 specific trends. Linen is obviously a summer material that makes a comeback year after year thanks to it's breathability, whereas the paperbag shorts and strappy high heels are some of this summer's trends. However, they are also trends that tend to go around in circles and come frequently back in fashion, which is evidenced by the fact that the shorts as well as the shoes (and actually the earrings as well!) are some of my second hand finds. Summer is definitely the high season of second hand shopping, that's all I can say!

Vaikka remmikorkokengät ei ehkä olekaan se optimaalisin kenkävalinta safarille, henkii tämä asu silti juurikin niitä kesäisiä safari-viboja, jotka myös tuntuvat kuuluvan melkein joka vuoden kesätrendeihin. Safari-henkisyyden voikin laittaa valkoisen pellavapaidan ja vihreiden shortsien piikkiin, sillä nimenomaan nämä värit ja vaatteiden materiaalit ja leikkaukset tekisi tästä lookista oikein safarikelpoisen. Jalkaan kun vaan tosiaan laittaisi vaikkapa ne tämän kesän trendikkäät turistisandaalit niin oisin ihan valmis hyppäämään Jeepin kyytiin katselemaan leijonia savannille.

Although the strappy sandals are not the optimal shoe choice for a safari, I think otherwise this outfit has safari vibes written all over it. And safari look is also a trend that tends to reoccur every summer. I'm putting the safari vibes down to the white linen shirt and green shorts, as it's exactly those colours as well as the materials and cuts of the items that make this outfit very safari appropriate. If I had e.g. the trendiest shoes of the season, the tourist/dad sandals, on my feet, I'd be ready to hop on a Jeep and head off to see some lions on a savanna.

The Summer Shoe Edit

Kuten todettua, tämän tytön kesäkenkätilanne on tänä vuonna melko huono. Vuosia ja vuosia palvelleet Nelly.com:in nyöriballerinat oli viime kesän jälkeen sen näköiset että ne joutui heittämään roskikseen, ja siinä meni samalla mun siistit luottokesäkengät. Ainakin siis ne ei-rakkoja-antavat. Oonkin nyt kuumeisesti koittanut miettiä ja etsiä että mistäs sitä löytäisi yhtä hyvät vakkarikengät tälle kesälle, ja mietinnässä on ollut erilaisia tyylejä ja malleja. Pistokas-malli houkuttelee toisaalta suuresti, mutta mä en yhtään kestä sitä tunnetta että kengät putoaa jalasta ja läpsyy. Nyörit ja solmuyksityiskohdat iskee edelleen, samoin punottu korimateriaali. Kokosin alapuolelle muutamia kivoja pareja joita olen bongaillut, nähtäväksi jää miten mun kesäkenkien metsästysoperaatio lopulta päättyy!

As mentioned in one of my previous posts, my summer shoe situation is really not looking that great this year. The lace up ballerinas that had served me well for years and years were in such a state at the end of last summer that I honestly had to bin them. And so I also binned my number one go-to pair of summer shoes. I've been really trying to look for a new pair to substitute the lace up ballerinas this summer, and I've got various different styles on my mind. I'm really drawn into the look of the mule style shoes, but I can't stand the feeling of my shoes falling off my feet and the sound they make when the sole hits your heel. Lacings and tie and knot details are something I still really like the look of, as well as the woven/basket material. Below you'll find a few pairs that caught my eye, we'll see how my hunt for a new pair of summer shoes finally finishes!

Summer Bucket List

Kesäkuun puolella mennään jo reippaasti ja juhannuskin on jo ensi viikolla! Onneksi myös kesäsäät rantautuivat vihdoin Suomeen ja täällä ainakin ollaan nautittu niistä ihan kunnolla, muun muassa viettämällä viikonloppua ystävän mökillä rentoutuen. Meillä kun ei omaa mökkiä ole (enkä ihan rehellisesti sanottuna mökkeilemässä viikonloppua pidempään viihtyisikään), niin on aina kiva päästä hyödyntämään lähipiirin mökkimahdollisuuksia. Kesään kuuluu totta kai myös kesän perinteinen bucket list, ja tänä vuonna mun lista näyttää tältä!

We're well into June already, and it's Midsummer next week too! Fortunately the summer weather has arrived in Finland and I've been making the most of it, for example by spending the weekend relaxing at a friend's summer cottage. Since we don't have a summer cottage of our own (and to be honest, I wouldn't want to spend any more than a weekend at one), it's always nice to be able to make use out of friends' cottages. But summer obviously has to start with the traditional summer bucket list, and this year my list looks like this!



- Mökkiviikonloppu. Joka kesän must, ja tää tulikin tosiaan jo tehtyä viime viikonloppuna! Kesän lopussa on onneksi suunnitteilla vielä toinen mökkiviikonloppu jolloin toivottavasti myös useampi ystäväporukastamme pääsisi tulemaan!

- Suomenlinna. En rehellisesti sanottuna edes muista, milloin viimeksi olen käynyt Suomenlinnassa. Aurinkoinen Suomenlinna-piknik täytyy siis ehdottomasti toteuttaa tänä kesänä.

- Uudet jäätelöt. Mitä olisikaan kesä ilman jäätelöä?! Vaikka mä oon usein jätskijutuissa vähän kaavoihin kangistunut ja valitsen aina niitä samoja vanhoja lempparimakuja, niin tänä kesänä täytyy ehdottomasti kokeilla taas uutuuksiakin. Ainakin 3Kaveria uusi paahdettu manteli ja tosca -maku on pakko testata!

- A weekend at a summer cottage. An every summer must, that I was able to tick off the list last weekend! We do have another cottage weekend planned towards the end of the summer though, and fingers crossed a few more girls from our group will be able to make it!

- Suomenlinna Sea Fortress. I honestly can't remember the last time I've visited Suomenlinna. A picnic in the sun really has to happen this year.

- New ice creams. What would summer even be without ice cream?! Although I often tend to go for my all-time faves when it comes to ice cream, I want to experiment with newbies this summer. There's at least a toasted almond and tosca flavour by 3Friends Ice Cream that I just have to try out!



- Ulkojooga. Puistossa, kotiterassilla, laiturilla. Ohjattuna, videolta, tai itse flowaten. Tänä kesänä aion levittää joogamaton ulos ja nauttia raittiista ilmasta joogaten.

- Cold brew -kahvi. Rakastan kahvia ja kesäaikaan erityisesti kylmää sellaista, joten tänä kesänä aion kokeilla tehdä itse cold brew, eli kylmäuutettua kahvia. Mun piti kokeilla jo viime kesänä, mutta se sitten kuitenkin jäi. Eikä muuten pitäisi olla vaikeaa, esimerkiksi Elinan Chocochili-blogista bongasin tämän superhelpon ohjeen!

- Päivä Porvoossa. Porvoo on aivan ihana kesäkaupunki, ja sinne on kiva lähteä päiväksi kiertelemään, katselemaan ja nauttimaan vanhan kaupungin söpöydestä. Tän kohdan saankin itse asiassa ruksittua yli tänään, kun pääsenkin vähän ex tempore lähtemään Inkan ja Hennan mukaan Porvooseen!

- Outdoor yoga. In a park, on our home terrace, or on the dock. Instructed, guided by a video, or just free flowing myself. This summer I'm going to lay my yoga mat outside and enjoy the fresh air while doing yoga.

- Cold brew coffee. I love coffee and especially cold versions during summer, so this summer I want to try making my own batch of cold brew coffee. I already planned to try it last summer but eventually didn't end up doing so. It should not be difficult at all, and for example Kate's recipe is really easy and simple!

- A day in Porvoo. Porvoo is such a lovely summer city, and the perfect destination for a little day trip to just wander around and enjoy the super cute old town. I'm actually going to be able to tick this one off today, as I'm joining Inka and Henna on a quite an impromptu visit to Porvoo!

Outfit Archives: June 2015-2018

Näitä asukuvien throwback-postauksia on tullut itsekin tehtyä aiemmin, mutta viimeisimmästä on taas kulunut jonkin aikaa. Niinpä kun viime viikolla luin Jonnan Style Throwback -postauksen, päädyin selailemaan omiakin asukuva-arkistoja taas pitkästä aikaa ja kokoamaan tähän postaukseen samaan tyyliin yhden kesäkuun asun joka vuodelta. Tai no, ihan joka vuodelta ei asua löytynyt, mutta vuodesta 2015 eteenpäin kyllä. Tässäpä siis neljä vuotta ja neljä kesäkuun asua, vuodesta 2015 viime kesäkuuhun 2018! Hauska huomata, miten se oma tyyli on tietyllä tapaa pysynyt samankaltaisena kaikki nämä vuodet, ja ne tutut ja turvalliset elementit toistuu vuodesta toiseen: klassisia ja ajattomia vaatteita, farkkua, mustavalkoista ja pieniä piristäviä yksityiskohtia. En muuten yleensä edes ole mikään erityisen innokas mekkojen käyttäjä, mutta selkeästi kesäaikaan mekkovillitys iskee muhunkin, kun näistäkin neljästä lookista kolmessa on pääosassa mekko.

I've done these kind of outfit throwback posts a few times in the past, but it's been a while since the last one again. So when coming across Jonna's Style Throwback post last week, I ended up scrolling my outfit archives again too, and in a similar way collate one outfit from each year into this post. Well okay, I couldn't find an outfit from every single year this blog has existed, but here are four June outfits from four years, from 2015 to 2018! It's fun to realise how my style has stayed quite same-ish through these years, and the tried and tested safe elements repeat themselves year after year: classic and timeless pieces, denim, black and white, and fun little details. I'm also usually not that much of a dress person, but apparently summertime makes me want to put on a dress more often than not since three out of these four looks feature a dress as the focal point.



Tästä vuoden 2015 kesäkuun asusta mulla ei sinänsä ole mitään pahaa sanottavaa, ja oikeastaan tää look toimii tällaisenaan oikein hyvin! Voisin ehdottomasti ajatella pukeutuvani samaan asuun vielä tänäkin päivänä, tosin pillifarkut vaihtuisivat ehkä mielummin mom jeanseihin. Mutta kuten sanottua, hyvin tämä asu toimii näinkin! Näistä vaatteista mulla ei tosin enää ole jäljellä kuin tuo ONLY:n nahkatakki, mutta se onkin kyllä edelleen ahkerassa käytössä. Ja hei huomatkaa myös trendikkäät leopardinilkkurit! Noista nilkkureista muistan tosin ainoastaan sen, kuinka jäätävät rakot ne(kin) tekivät jalkoihin.

I actually don't have anything bad in particular to say about this outfit from June 2015, and I think this look works quite well as it is! I could definitely see myself wearing this outfit now in 2019 too, although I'd probably switch the skinny jeans to a pair of mom jeans instead. But as said, this outfit looks alright just how it is! Out of these items the only one I've still got in my wardrobe is the ONLY leather jacket though, but that one is still in a very frequent use. And do note the trendy leopard print ankle boots! The only thing I can remember about those shoes, however, is the massive painful blisters they gave me.



Vuoden 2016 kesällä 70-luvun tyyli oli todella in, ja itse pukeuduin trendiin tumman farkkumekon ja isojen pilotti-aurinkolasien avulla. Sinisen farkun ja ruskeiden yksityiskohtien värimaailma henkii retroviboja, ja vaikka muistan että tunsin oloni todella tyylikkääksi tässä asussa en silti pukeutuisi tähän kyllä enää uudelleen. Pilottilasit ja laukku löytyy kaapista kyllä edelleen, ja niitäkin tulee käytettyä todella usein, mutta farkkumekko on saanut jatkaa matkaa eteenpäin jo kauan sitten. Tätä farkkumekkoa lainasin itse asiassa äidiltäni, ja mulla on farkkumekkoihin yleisesti hieman viha-rakkaussuhde. Farkkumekot kuuluivat nimittäin pitkään äitini kesäsuosikkeihin, ja myös mun vaatekaapista löytyi monen vuoden ajan farkkumekko silloin kun äiti vielä osti vaatteeni.

The 1970s style was really trendy during summer 2016, and I personally gave a nod to it with the help of dark wash denim dress and a pair of aviator sunglasses. The dark denim and brown hues colour palette give out the retro vibes, and although I do remember feeling good and stylish in this outfit I still wouldn't wear this again. The aviators and the bag I do still have in my closet, and I use both of them a lot, but the dress has been given another home a long time ago. I actually borrowed this denim dress from my mum, and I've always had a bit of a love-hate relationship toward denim dresses. My mum was a real denim dress devotee when I was a child and I also had one in my wardrobe for years and years when mum was still buying my clothes. 



Vuoden 2017 kesäkuun asu onkin puolestaan Glasgow'sta! Tänä vuonna sinivalkoinen raita ja röyhelöt olivat ehdottomasti kesän isoin trendi, ja tähän aikaan preppy-tyyli viehätti mua taas muutaman vuoden jälkeen uudelleen kun edellisen kerran elin kunnon preppy-vaihetta lukiossa. Loafereiden ja laukun kanssa tämä mekkoasu on tän hetkiseen makuuni vähän liian preppy, ja laukku on itse asiassa mennyt eteenpäin enkä kenkiäkään ole käyttänyt pariin vuoteen vaikka ne kaapissa edelleen ovatkin. Pilottilasit puolestaan ovat samat kuin vuonna 2016 ja edelleen siis kovassa käytössä, ja mekkokin löytyy vaatekaapista edelleen. Esimerkiksi tämä asu saman mekon kanssa olikin yksi viime kesän suosikkejani!

The 2017 June outfit is from Glasgow! That summer was the high time of blue and white stripes and all of the ruffle details, and this was also a time when I got a little bit into the preppy style again after previously being all about the preppyness in high school. With the loafers and the bag this outfit is a bit too preppy for me now, and the bag has been given away and the shoes have not been worn in a couple of years although they're still lying around in my closet. The sunglasses however are the same ones as in the 2016 outfit and thus still get worn a lot, and I've also still got the dress. For example this outfit with the same dress was one of my favourite outfits last summer! 



Tämä KappAhlin maksimittainen kukkamekko oli ehdottomasti yksi viime kesän suosikkejani, ja eräänä tuulisena kesäkuun päivänä se yhdistyi nahkatakkiin (siihen täsmälleen samaan kuin vuoden 2015 kesäkuun asussa!) ja niittinilkkureihin. Muistan tämän asun olleen hieman sinne oman tyylimukavuusalueen ulkopuolelle astumista, mutta siitä huolimatta viihdyin tässä lookissa todella hyvin ja naisellisen kukkamekon ja edgympien nahkatakin ja nilkkureiden kontrasti toimii mun mielestä loistavasti edelleen. Tämän saman asun voisin edelleen pukea päälleni ihan tällaisenaan ja kaikki asun elementit löytyvät kaapista vielä tänäkin päivänä, vaikka niittinilkkurit jäivätkin tänä vuonna Glasgow'n vaatekaappiin kesän ajaksi.

This floral maxi dress from KappAhl was hands down one of my favourite items last summer, and on one windy June day I wore it together with a leather jacket (the exact same one you can see in the June 2015 outfit!) and a pair of studded ankle boots. I remember this outfit being part of the 'a little bit out of my comfort zone' category, but despite that I felt really good in this and I still think the contrast between the feminine floral dress and edgier leather jacket and studded ankle boots works really well. I could definitely see myself wearing this exact outfit again and I've still got all of the items in my wardrobe too, although I didn't bring the shoes to Finland with me this time.

Casual White Summer Suit

Pukujutuilla jatketaan! Oon tosiaan mennyt ja ihastunut korviani myöten kaikenlaisiin erilaisiin pukuihin ja housut + bleiseri -komboihin, kuten tästä mun viime viikonlopun ylioppilasjuhla-asustakin voi ehkä jo päätellä. Mun asuvalinnasta tuli muuten paljon kehuja ja kommentteja viikonloppuna, iso kiitos siis teille ja ihana huomata että sielläkin tykätään puku-lookeista!

Another suit outfit today! I've only went and fell head over heels for all kinds of suits and trousers + blazer looks, as you'll probably be able to tell by looking at this suit outfit I wore last weekend to celebrate my little brother's graduation. I also got a lot of compliments on my outfit from you guys, so thank you for that and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one loving suit looks at the moment! 



Valkoisista farkuista ja pellavableiseristä luotu kokonaisuus ei kuitenkaan ole ihan niin virallisen ja juhlavan näköinen kuin se perinteinen musta puku, ja tällainen kombo sopii myös ihan tavalliseen kesäiseen arkipäivään. Käytännössä tämäkin on se mulle hyvin tyypillinen farkut ja bleiseri -kokonaisuus, mutta kun sekä farkut että bleiseri on valkoista väriä näyttää lopputulos nimenomaan rennolta jakkupuvulta.

This outfit has been put together with a pair of white jeans and a linen blazer, and so it is not quite as smart and formal looking as the traditional black suit. And for that reason this kind of suit look works well on a regular summer day too. Technically this is my beloved jeans and a blazer combo, but since both the jeans and the blazer are white they create an illusion of a casual suit look.

Valkoisten farkkujen ja bleiserin kanssa yhdistin lisää vaaleita neutraaleja sävyjä ja kultaisia yksityiskohtia. Punospohjaiset espadrillot tuo asuun vielä vähän lisää kesäviboja ja rentoutta, mutta tilaisuudesta riippuen kengiksi sopisi hyvin myös vaikkapa tennarit/lenkkarit, tai korot mikäli vaaditaan vähän siistimpää ja edustavampaa pukeutumista.

Together with the white jeans and the blazer I combined some more light neutrals and gold accessories. The woven sole espadrilles add a touch more summer vibes and casualness to the outfit, but depending on the occasion trainers would also work with this look, or a nice pair of heels in case a bit smarter and sharper look is needed.
