Ne, jotka seuraa mun juttuja myös Instagramin puolella saattaakin tietää, että olin tarkalleen kaksi viikkoa sitten huulileikkauksessa. Ja ei, kyseessä ei siis ollut sillä tavalla kosmeettinen leikkaus että huuliin olisi laitettu täytettä tai muotoa tai muuta vastaavaa, vaan alahuulesta poistettiin kaksi tukkeutunutta sylkirauhasta jotka olivat häirinneet mua jo viime heinäkuusta lähtien. Eli joo, operaatio oli siinä mielessä kosmeettinen että 'huulipateista' ei ollut muuta haittaa kuin niiden ulkonäkö, sillä ne eivät olleet vaarallisia tai kipeitä. Vain todella ärsyttävän näköisiä ja tuntuisia.
Those who follow me also over on Instagram might already know that exactly two weeks ago I had lip surgery done. And no, the surgery wasn't about a cosmetic issue in the sense that I would have had fillers put in or the shape altered or anything like that, rather it was about removing two blocked salivary glands from my lower lip which had been there bothering me already since last July. So yes, a cosmetic procedure in the sense that the 'lip bumps' were not harmful or sore, just really disturbing in both how they looked and felt.

Vaikka siis tosiaan mitään varsinaista terveydellistä haittaa ei ollutkaan, niin kyllä puolen vuoden pattitaistelun jälkeen oli jo aikakin päästä niistä eroon. Puoli vuotta ehti tosiaan vierähtää ennen kuin sain aikaiseksi pattien poistatuksen, mikä on loistava esimerkki siitä kuinka mulla on aina tapana pitkittää tällaisia terveydenhoitoon liittyviä juttuja. Ja loppujen lopuksihan kyse ei ole mistään muusta kuin siitä että saa itseään niskasta kiinni, varattua sen lääkärin, ja hoidettua homman kuntoon. Toinen hieman vakavampi esimerkki on verilääkkeideni reseptin uusiminen, jossa mulla ihan oikeasti kesti aivan luvattoman pitkään. Mulla on tosiaan todettu lievä veren hyytysmistekijän puutos, ja sen takia vuodan verta helposti ja runsaammin kuin useimmat muut ihmiset, minkä vuoksi mulle on määrätty aina tarvittaessa esimerkiksi nenäverenvuodon yhteydessä otettavat veren hyytymistä auttavat lääkkeet. Ihan hävettää myöntää, mutta edellisestä reseptin uusimisesta oli vierähtänyt jo monta vuotta, mutta nyt on onneksi taas kirjaimellisesti lääkitys kunnossa! Asetinkin yhdeksi vuoden 2020 tavoitteekseni että pidän parempaa huolta terveydestäni, ja hoidan juurikin tällaiset lääkäriasiat ja muut aina mahdollisimman nopeasti ja aikailematta pois alta. Itse asiassa tästä pitäisi varmaan tehdä pikemminkin ihan lupaus kuin vain pelkkä tavoite.
So yes, although there wasn't any actual medical harm with them, it really was about time to get rid of the lip bumps after suffering with them for over six months. It really took me half a year to get around to booking that surgery where they would be removed, which is a prime example of how I always tend to drag out and avoid booking these kind of health related things. And eventually it really is about nothing else than getting a grip of yourself, booking that appointment, and getting everything sorted once and for all. Another example, actually a more serious one, is renewing my blood medicine prescription. With that it honestly took me way too long. I've been diagnosed with a light blood clogging factor deficiency which is why I tend to bleed easier and heavier than most people, and that's why I've been prescribed tablets that help my blood to clog whenever I'm having a nose bleed etc. I'm honestly ashamed to admit that it had been years since my last prescription renewal. But now it's luckily all sorted on that front too! One of my goals for 2020 was to take better care of myself and my health, and to get these kind of things over and done with as soon as possible without procrastination. I think I will actually have to make this a resolution, rather than just a goal.

Jos vielä palataan itse huulileikkaukseen operaationa, niin se oli oikeasti todella helppo ja kivuton juttu! Multa ei ole koskaan aiemmin leikattu mitään, ellei ihan vauvana tehtyä leikkausta lasketa, ja kyllä mua rehellisesti sanottuna hieman jännitti ja hoitajakin ilmeisesti huomasi mun jännityksen kun kyseli vielä ennen operaatiota että onhan kaikki hyvin. Paikallispuudutuksen ansiosta en kuitenkaan tuntenut yhtään mitään, sekä lääkäri että hoitaja olivat mukavia ja ammattitaitoisia, ja koko operaatio oli ohi alle puolessa tunnissa. Ihan turhaan siis jännitin, ja kaikki meni just niin kuin pitikin. Ainoa vaiva mikä leikkauksesta aiheutui oli muutaman päivän kestänyt todella voimakas turvotus ja mustelma leikkausalueella, joka näissä pari päivää operaation jälkeen otetuissa kuvissakin näkyy. Nyt huuli on kuitenkin takaisin normaalissa koossa ja värissä, ja tikitkin liukesivat itsestään niin ettei niitä tarvinnut käydä erikseen poistattamassa. Loppu hyvin kaikki hyvin siis, jännitys oli turhaa, ja loppujen lopuksi patista eroon pääseminen oli oikeasti naurettavan helppoa. Piti vain tosiaan saada se aikaiseksi.
Returning back to the topic of lip surgery as an operation, it was actually a really easy and painless experience! I've never had anything operated before, if something I had as a baby doesn't count, and I'm not going to lie I was feeling rather nervous before the surgery. Which the nurse apparently noticed too, as she kept asking if I was managing alright. However, thanks to the local anaesthesia I didn't feel a thing, both the doctor and the surgeon were nice, friendly and professional, and the whole thing was over in less than 30 minutes. So everything went exactly as it should have. The only inconvenience the surgery caused me was the swelling and bruising on my lip that lasted for a few days, which you can also notice in these photos that were taken a couple of days after the operation. And now the lip is back to its normal, pre-bump state, the swelling and bruising is gone, and even the stitches dissolved by themselves so I didn't have to go and get them removed separately. So all good in the end, and ultimately getting rid of the bumps was honestly ridiculously easy. I just had to get around of actually doing it.
