Viime syksynä löysin podcastien ihanuuden kun en aikaisina aamuina halunnut laittautua täydessä hiljaisuudessa muiden vielä nukkuessa, mutten ollut vielä tarpeeksi hereillä että olisin jaksanut kuunnella musiikkiakaan. En muuten yhtään osaa sanoa että miksi, mutta jostain syystä näiden ehkä parin viime vuoden aikana en oo enää yksinkertaisesti jaksanut kuunnella musiikkia heti aamusta, en edes mitään rauhallista tai klassista. Ensin pitää saada suurimmat unihiekat pois silmistä, sen jälkeen vasta voi laittaa Spotify-listan soimaan.
Last Autumn I found the beauty of podcasts when on the early mornings I didn't want to get ready in complete silence when the rest of the family was still asleep, but I wasn't awake enough to stand listening to music. I don't know why, but during these last couple of years I simply haven't wanted to listen to music first thing in the morning, not even mellow tones or classical. First I need to wake up somewhat properly, and then I can hit play on that Spotify playlist.
Niinpä tosiaan aloin kuuntelemaan podcasteja aina aamuisin ja edelleen laitan usein podcastin taustalle pyörimään samalla kun sudin meikkiä naamaan. Nykyään usein myös niissä tilanteissa, joissa aiemmin kuuntelin aina musiikkia (julkisissa/lenkillä/paikasta toiseen kävellessä) on mulla nykyään musiikin sijaan podcast soimassa. Itse tykkään kuunnella nimenomaan muotiaiheisia ohjelmia, joten tässä tuleekin mun kolme hyvin erilaista suosikkipodcastia muillekin muodista kiinnostuneille!
Enter podcasts that I started to listen during the early morning hours, and often I still have a podcast playing in the background when I'm doing my make up. Nowadays podcasts also keep me company on those situations that I previously used to always listen to music, e.g. when traveling on public transportation, on a walk, or when I'm just getting from one place to another. Personally I especially enjoy fashion related programmes, so here are my 3 favourite, very different from each other, podcasts for fellow fashion enthusiasts!
Menestyneitä naisia ja mielenkiintoisia tarinoita: Oh Boy by Man Repeller
Man Repeller -blogin podcast, jonka host Jay Buim haastattelee niin muodin ja musiikin kuin muidenkin kulttuurialojen parissa menestyneitä naisia. Jay aloittaa yleensä kysymyksellä haastateltavan lapsuudesta, ja siitä keskustelu lähtee usein todella mielenkiintoiseen suuntaan. Näitä haastatteluja on paitsi mielenkiintoista niin myös miellyttävää kuunnella, sillä ne kulkevat rauhallisesti ja luonnollisesti eteenpäin, ja kaiken lisäksi Jay vaikuttaa todella symppikseltä! Podcastin vieraina on ollut muun muassa Alexa Chung, Garance Doré ja Cosmopolitanin toimittaja Amy Odell.
Informatiivinen, opettavainen ja business-henkinen: American Fashion Podcast
American Fashion Podcast on oikeasti kunnon tietopläjäys muotimaailman tänhetkisestä tilasta nimenomaan business-näkökulmasta. Tää podcast avaa silmät näkemään ja tiedostamaan muotialassa muutakin kuin sen glitterin ja glamourin, ja esimerkiksi eettiset ja ekologiset kysymykset nousee esille melkeinpä joka jaksossa. Jaksojen vieraat on kaikki jollain osa-alueella muodin parissa työskenteleviä ja vieraina on ollut esimerksiksi suunnittelijoita, toimitusjohtajia ja nettikauppojen perustajia. Jos siis muodissa kiinnostaa muukin kuin vaatteet tai haaveena on esimerkiksi ura muodin parissa niin kuuntele tätä!
Viihdyttävin: Vogue Podcast
Jenkki-Voguen podcast on kaikista kolmesta ehdottomasti viihdyttävin, ihan vaan koska sen päähost André Leon Talley on niin huikea! Oon oikeasti muutamaan kertaan nauranut ääneen tätä kuunnellessa, sillä kun André innostuu niin hän kyllä todella innostuu! Ymmärrettävästi podcastin jaksot liittyy yleensä vahvasti Vogueen ja esimerkiksi uusien numeroiden kansi- ja muotijutuista on usein keskustelua, mutta jaksojen joukosta löytyy myös suunnittelijoiden ja mallien haastatteluja. Tää on nimenomaan hyvää viihdettä, ja koska jaksot ovat lyhyempiä kuin kahdessa ylemmässä niin yhden jakson ehtii kuuntelemaan alusta loppuun esimerkiksi bussimatkan aikana.
Successful women and interesting stories: Oh Boy by Man Repeller
A podcast from the Man Repeller blog, hosted by Jay Buim who interviews successful women working in fashion, music and other areas of culture. Jay often starts with a question about the interviewees childhood and from there the conversation usually goes to a really interesting direction. These interviews are not only interesting but also pleasant to listen to as they go forward smoothly and naturally, plus Jay seems like such a nice guy! The podcast has had for example Alexa Chung, Garance Doré and Cosmo editor Amy Odell as its guests.
Informative, instructive and business-based: American Fashion Podcast
American Fashion Podcast offers a true and deep look into the fashion world, precisely from the business perspective. This podcast opens the eyes to see and mind to be aware of what is going on in the fashion world behind all the glitter and glamour, and for instance ethical and ecological issues are discussed in pretty much every single episode. The guests all work in different fields inside the fashion business, and the podcast has had e.g. designers, CEOs and e-commerce founders among its guests. So if you're interested in fashion beyond the clothes or you dream about a career in fashion, then listen to this one!
The most entertaining: Vogue Podcast
The podcast from American Vogue is without a doubt the most entertaining one out of all these three, purely because the main host André Leon Talley is brilliant! I've seriously laughed out loud a few times when listening to this, because when André gets excited he really gets excited! As you would expect, for the most part the episodes are strongly related to Vogue and for example the cover stories and editorials of new Vogue issues are often talked about, but there are also interviews with designers and models in the mix. This podcast is precisely good entertainment, and as the episodes are shorter than in the two above you can listen to one episode from start to finish while sitting in a bus for instance.
