Kevät on aina farkkujen ja uuden sesongin farkkutrendien aikaa. Tänä keväänä farkkumuodissa onkin taas paljon "uutta vanhaa", eli aiemmilta vuosikymmeniltä tuttuja elementtejä jotka ovat tehneet comebackin trendilistojen kärkeen.
Spring is always time for denim and new season denim trends. This spring there's a lot of "new old" denim styles, as denim trends from previous decades have made a comeback to the trend charts again.
Kevään farkkumuoti 2023
Bootcut-farkut
Tänä keväänä farkkumuodissa nähdään muutoksia erityisesti lahkeiden mallissa. Muutamat viime vuodet on olleet todella vahvasti suorien lahkeiden ja mom jeans -farkkujen johtamia, mutta vuosi 2023 tuo farkkutrendeihin muutosta nimenomaan lahkeisiin näkyvämmin kuin pitkään aikaan. Yksi tämän kevään trendikkäimmistä farkkumalleista onkin polvesta alaspäin levenevät bootcut-malliset farkut. Bootcut-tyyli poikkeaa myös kevään trendeistä senkin puolesta, että se on tuulahdus kultaista 70-lukua, kun taas muuten Y2K ja erilaiset 2000-luvun vaikutteet nousevat edelleen trendien kärkeen.
Farkkumaxihame
Ja yksi tällainen 2000-luvun farkkutrendi onkin maxipituinen farkkuhame. Ja uskokaa kun sanon, että tätä hamemallia tullaan näkemään todella paljon trenditietoisten päällä tänä keväänä! Muualla maailmalla farkkumaxeja näkyy jo, mutta koska Suomen ja muiden Pohjoismaiden kevättä saadaan odotella aina muuta maailmaa pidempään, niin hameitakin nähdään enemmän varmasti mitä pidemmälle kevät ja vuosi 2023 etenee. Ja kyllä, farkkumaxihame on myös omalla ostoslistallani kevääksi, vaikken vielä hetki sitten olisi uskonutkaan että sanon näin.
Spring denim trends 2023
Bootcut jeans
This spring we'll be seeing a lot of changes especially when it comes to the leg styles and shapes. The past few years have been strongly characterized by straight legs and mom jeans, but 2023 brings changes to the legs of jeans in a more significant way than in a long long time. One of the trendiest denim styles of this spring is the bootcut jean, i.e. the jeans that start to widen from below the knee. Bootcut jeans are a little different to other spring trends also in that they bring in a breath of the golden 70s, whereas otherwise we're still very much in the Y2K and 2000s influenced fashion era.
Denim maxi skirt
And one denim style that is very characteristic for those early 2000s days is the denim maxi skirt. And believe me when I say that we'll be seeing so many trendy people rocking this skirt style this spring. The rest of the world has already gotten head start to this denim trend, but as here in Finland and other Nordic countries we need to wait for spring a little bit longer, the denim maxi skirts will also start popping up more the further into spring and 2023 we go.

Tynnyrifarkut
Bootcut-lahkeiden lisäksi super leveälahkeiset tynnyrifarkut eli barrel jeans kuuluvat kevään 2023 farkkutrendeihin. Nimi on hyvin havainnollistava, tynnyrifarkut nimittäin tunnistaa siitä että lahkeiden muoto muistuttaa nimenomaan tynnyriä. Ja mitä tähän trendiin tulee, niin nyrkkisääntönä voi pitää "mitä isompi ja tynnyrimäisempi, sen parempi". Isoja ja liehuvia lahkeita on nähty kapeita versioita enemmän jo useamman sesongin ajan, mutta lahkeen alaosasta hieman kapeneva tynnyrimalli tuo pientä vaihtelua leveiden lahkeiden trendiin.
Barrel jeans
Alognside bootcut legs, the super wide barrel jeans are also one of the biggest denim trends in spring 2023. The name is very illustrative, as you recognize barrel jeans from exactly the fact that the legs are shaped like barrels. And when it comes to the barrel jeans trend, a rule of thumb is "the bigger the barrel, the better". Big and wide legs have been trending for multiple seasons already, but the barrel leg jeans bring a bit of a variety and change to this trend as the legs go a tiny bit tighter at the very bottom.
Double Denim
Ja lisää 2000-luvulta tuttua farkkumuotia päivitettynä tähän päivään on niin sanottu double denim, eli farkkuun pukeutuminen päästä varpaisiin sekä ylä- että alaosaan. "Tuplafarkku" tunnetaan myös nimellä Canadian tuxedo eli kanadalainen smokki, ja tästä tulee itselleni aina mieleen ikoniset kuvat Justin Timberlakesta ja Britney Spearsista vuoden 2001 American Music Awardseissa. Tuplafarkku-tyylin juju on valita samaa sinisen sävyistä farkkua sekä ylä- että alaosaan, jolloin kokonaisuudesta tulee nimenomaan smokkimainen. Itse valitsisin joko vaaleahkon tai keskisinisen sävyn, ja vaatekappaleiksi puolestaan suoralahkeiset farkut ja rennosti istuvan farkkutakin. Mutta mikään ei estä luomasta tuplafarkkutyyliä myös esimerkiksi farkkupaidan tai -liivin ja farkkuhameen kanssa.
Double Denim
And more 2000s denim trends updated into today is the so called double denim or Canadian tuxedo, i.e. wearing denim both on top and bottom. When talking about double denim, personally I cannot help but always think of the iconic images of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears at the 2001 American Music Awards. The key to double denim is to choose the same blue tone into both pieces, which creates exactly that tuxedo like look. Personally I'd go for a light or mid blue wash, and the pieces I'd wear would be a pair of straight legged jeans and a relaxed denim jacket. However, you can also experiment with the trend by creating a double denim look with a denim shirt or a waistcoat and a denim skirt.
Matala vyötärö
Yes, it's back. Korkeavyötäröisten farkkujen ja ylipäätään alaosien pitkään jatkunut voittokulku alkaa hidastumaan, ja keväällä 2023 farkkujen vyötäröt putoavat läheltä napaa lähemmäs lantiota. Tässäkin trendissä on jälleen vahvasti huomattavissa 2000-luvun alun vaikutteet, ja olipa trendistä mitä mieltä tahansa niin tänä keväänä kannattaa ainakin henkisesti varautua farkuista vilahteleviin alaselkiin ja alushousuihin.
Low waist
Yes, it's back. The triumph of high waisted jeans and trousers / bottoms in general is starting to slow down, and in spring 2023 the waists of the trendy denim styles drop from close to the navel to closer to the waist. And yet again, you can really tell that this trend is strongly influenced by the early days of the 2000s. No matter what's your opinion on this spring 2023 denim trend, it's a good idea to be mentally prepared to see some bare lower backs and accidentally flashed underwear this season.
