Jotkut ovatkin ehkä jo ainakin Instagramin puolella huomanneet, että laukkukokoelmani täydentyi hiljattain yhdellä pitkäaikaisella unelmalaukullani, nimittäin Chanelin klassisella Flap Bagilla. Sain laukusta muutamia kysymyksiä, joten päätin omistaa sille ihan oman postauksensa täällä blogissa. Jos siis tarina ensimmäisestä Chanelistani kiinnostaa, niin jatka lukemista eteenpäin!
Some of you might have already spotted on Instagram that my bag collection recently grew with a longtime dream bag of mine, the classic Chanel Flap Bag. Chanelin klassikko flap bag -laukku on tosiaan ollut laukkuhaavelistani kärjessä jo varmasti kymmenen vuoden ajan. Olin tehnyt päätöksen, että hittolainen, tänä vuonna mä ihan oikeasti lopetan haaveilun ja ostan laukun itselleni synttärilahjaksi. Niinpä esimerkiksi Vestiaire Collective ja The Vintage Bar ovat käyneet koko alkuvuoden kuumana kun olen selannut sivutolkulla unelmalaukkujani. Mulla on ollut laukusta myös sähköposti-ilmoitukset päällä, eli oikeastaan joka päivä laukkuilmoituksia on tullut myös sähköpostin saapuneet-kansioon. Sekä Vestiairen että The Vintage Barin Chanel-valikoimassa huomasin kuitenkin yhden ostopäätöstä hankaloittavan seikan. Miten ihmeessä tiedän, miltä laukku sitten ihan oikeasti näyttää, missä kunnossa se on, ja onko se ylipäätään aito? Erityisesti Vestiairessa myytyjen tuotteiden aitoudesta ja koko firman asiakaspalvelusta olen myös kuullut joitain melkoisia kauhutarinoita, että senkin vuoksi käytetyn laukun tilaaminen netistä käytännössä suoraan toiselta kuluttajalta alkoi arveluttaa. Näiden ajatusten jälkeen tulinkin siihen tulokseen, että kaikkein mieluiten ostaisin laukun kuitenkin suoraan jostakin luotettavasta vintage-putiikista, jossa pääsen parhaimmassa tapauksessa katsomaan laukkua ensin itse ihan livenä.

The classic Chanel Flap Bag has been on the top of my dream bag list for around ten years I'm sure. I had made a decision that, what the heck, this year I'm going to stop only dreaming and buy the bag for myself as a birthday present. Therefore I've been scrolling pages and pages of these dream bags of mine on Vestiaire Collective and The Vintage Bar. I've also had email notifications on, so I've literally gotten Chanel bags dropping into my inbox on a daily basis. However, there was one thing that I noticed myself hesitating over when it comes to the Chanel selection on both Vestiaire and The Vintage Bar. How on earth could I know what the bag actually looks like in real life, or if it's even authentic? I've heard some horror stories about the authenticity of items and customer service especially on Vestiaire, which made me even more hesitant to basically buy a bag online from another consumer. After going through some of these thoughts I came to the conclusion that I'd rather buy my bag directly from a boutique where I might even have the chance to see the bag myself before purchasing.

Ja sitten muutama viikko sitten eräänä iltana perinteiseen tapaan Instagramia selatessani se oikea tuli suoraan silmieni eteen: klassinen Flap Bag kultaisilla metalliyksityiskohdilla. Luxury Helsingin Instagram Storyssa vilahti nimittäin juuri tämä unelmieni laukku (jos muuten second hand designer-asusteet kiinnostaa, niin ehdottomasti Luxury Helsinki seurantaan). Ja mikä parasta, Luxury Helsingillä on myös showroom Helsingissä Rikhardinkadulla, eli kaikkia heille myyntiin tulevia laukkuja ja asusteita pääsee ihan oikeasti myös katsomaan ja kokeilemaan paikan päällä ennen ostopäätöksen tekemistä. Laitoinkin sitten samantien laukusta viestiä ja kyselin hieman tarkempia tietoja. Vastaus ja useita lisäkuvia tuli super nopeasti, ja viestittely oli muutenkin todella sujuvaa. Kysyin olisiko laukkua mahdollista tulla katsomaan ja sovittamaan seuraavana lauantaina, ja ihana omistaja sanoi että se tietysti onnistuu jos laukku vain on silloin vapaana. Bookkasinkin sitten showroom-vierailun samantien.
Luxury Helsingistä voi myös varata laukkuja maksamalla 20% hinnasta, mutta vielä tässä vaiheessa en tehnyt varausmaksua. Yön yli nukuttuani laukku kuitenkin kummitteli päässäni entistä kovemmin, samoin kuin sanat "jos laukku on vielä lauantaina vapaana." Tässä kohtaa olin käytännössä jo tehnyt ostopäätöksen, ja niinpä halusin varmistaa laukun saamisen ja maksoin laukusta varausmaksun, jotta se olisi varmasti odottamassa minua lauantaina. Ja kuten tosiaan voitte huomata, poistuin showroom-vierailulta vintage Chanel mukanani. Alunperin ajatuksena oli tosiaan ostaa laukku syntymäpäivälahjaksi maaliskuun lopulla kun synttärini ovat 29.3., mutta kun kerran juuri se etsimäni laukku tuli juuri oikeassa paikassa ja super hyvässä kunnossa vastaan jo kuukautta aiemmin, niin päätin tarttua tilaisuuteen. Kuukausi sinne tai tänne kun olin kuitenkin laukun päättänyt tänä keväänä ostaa.
And then a few weeks ago one night when I was scrolling Instagram as per usual, 'the one' appeared straight in front of my eyes: the classic Chanel Flap bag with gold hardware. Luxury Helsinki posted a sneak peek of some of their new items onto their Instagram Story and there was this dream bag of mine (by the way, if you're interested in second hand designer accessories then definitely go and follow Luxury Helsinki, especially if you're based in Finland). And the best thing was that Luxury Helsinki also has a showroom on Rikhardinkatu in the centre of Helsinki, so you can actually go and try on any item you have your eyes on before buying anything. So I sent them a message right away and asked for some further details and information about the bag, and they were super quick to reply with multiple additional photos too. I asked whether I could come and try on the bag the following Saturday, and the lovely owner said that it'd of course be possible, if the bag just is available then. I immediately booked a showroom visit.
You can also reserve bags from Luxury Helsinki by paying 20% of the total price of the item, but at this point I didn't yet do that. However, after sleeping the night the bag was still very much haunting me on my mind, as well as the words 'if the bag is still available'. By this point I had basically already made my mind about buying it, and so I wanted to guarantee that I would actually get it too, and therefore I paid the reservation fee so the bag would surely be waiting for me on Saturday. And as you can tell, I left the showroom with a gorgeous vintage Chanel bag with me. The initial plan was to buy the bag closer to my actual birthday which is on the 29th of March, but as the dream bag was right there at the most perfect place and in an amazing condition a month in advance, I decided to seize the opportunity. A month here or there doesn't really make a difference when I basically was going to buy the bag anyway this spring.
Rakastan laukun ajatonta klassisuutta ja eleganssia, ja tiedän että tämä laukku tulee kulkemaan mun mukana koko loppuelämäni ajan. Halusin ehdottomasti kultaiset yksityiskohdat, mutta olin hieman kahden vaiheilla laukun koon suhteen ja pohdinnassa oli juurikin tämä small tai sitten yhden koon isompi medium. Senkin puolesta oli ihan mahtavaa että pääsin vielä sovittamaan laukkua ennen virallisen ostopäätöksen tekemistä, ja yhdessä Luxury Helsingin omistajan kanssa todettiin että kyllä tämä pienempi small on juuri oikean kokoinen. Sinne mahtuu kuitenkin todella hyvin kaikki tarvittava: avaimet, korttikotelo, puhelin, kuulokkeet, huulikiilto ja vielä muutakin pikkutavaraa. Laukun pitkän olkahihnan saa muokattua kahdeksi kahvaksi jolloin laukkua voi kantaa helposti olalla tai kädessä, kun taas täydessä pituudessaan olkahihna muuntaa laukun kädet vapaaksi jättäväksi crossbody-laukuksi. Tämä on ihan ehdottomasti loppuelämän laukku, enkä voisi olla tyytyväisempi!
I absolutely adore the timeless and classic elegance of the bag, and I know that this is a bag I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I definitely wanted gold hardware, but was little bit torn when it comes to the size of the bag, and the sizes I contemplated between were exactly this small and the one size bigger medium. That's another reason why it was so great to be able to actually try the bag on before making the final purchase decision, and with the owner of Luxury Helsinki we came to the mutual agreement that this small bag really is the perfect size for me. Even though it is fairly compact, you can still fit all the necessities inside: keys, card holder, phone, headphones, lip gloss and other little everyday handbag items. The long strap also transforms into two shorter handles which makes the bag easier to carry under the arm or in your hand, whereas with the strap at its full length allows for the bag to be carried as a crossbody and leaving your hands free. This is without a doubt a bag for life, and I couldn't be any happier!
