New York kuuluu ehdottomasti muoti-intoilijan huippukohteisiin, onhan yksi Big Four -muotiviikoista eli New Yorkin muotiviikotkin kaupungissa aina kaksi kertaa vuodessa. New Yorkissa siis todellakin riittää nähtävää ja koettavaa muotifanille, ja oli sanomattakin selvää että itsekin halusin nähdä ja kokea muutaman muotiin liittyvän kohteen meidän New Yorkin matkan aikana. Paljon jäi tietysti vielä näkemättä, mutta hei pitäähän sitä jättää jotakin seuraavallekin kerralle.
New York is without a doubt one of the top travel destinations for a fashion enthusiast. I mean, one of the Big Four fashion weeks, i.e. New York Fashion Week, is held in the city twice a year. New York truly has a lot to see and experience for a fashion girl (or guy), and it probably goes without saying that I also wanted to see and experience a few fashion attractions during our New York trip. A lot was still left on my list, but hey you gotta leave something for the next time too, right?

Louis Vuitton 200 Trunks 200 Visionaries
660 Madison Avenue, New York
Louis Vuittonin 200-vuotisjuhlavuoden kunniaksi maailmaa kiertänyt näyttely, joka kokoaa yhteen 200 eri taiteilijan luomat klassiset Louis Vuittonin matka-arkut. Näyttely on todella laaja, ja hienosti järjestetty muutenkin kuin vain näyttelyarkkujen osalta. Näyttelyn yhteydessä on myös workshop-tila, jossa järjestetään erilaisia tapahtumia näyttelyn aikana. Sisäänpääsy on ilmainen, mutta vierailuaika täytyy varata etukäteen ja sen voi tehdä täällä. Tosin ajankohdan kanssa oltiin paikan päällä joustavia, itsekin pääsin sisään jo kaksi tuntia ennen varattua ajankohtaa kun kävin vain ovella kysymässä olisiko mahdollista päästä katsomaan näyttely jo aiemmin. Louis Vuitton 200 Trunks 200 Visionaries on nähtväillä vanhassa Barney's-tavaratalon tilassa Upper East Sidella osoitteessa 660 Madison Avenue vielä 31.12.2022 asti.
The 200 Trunks 200 Visionaries exhibition that celebrates the 200th birthday of Louis Vuitton has travelled around the world and finally landed in New York. The exhibition curates together 200 classic Louis Vuitton trunks as designed and envisioned by 200 different artists. The exhibition itself is wide and well organised in general, not only when it comes to the trunks on show. The venue also has a workshop space, where you can attend different workshops during the exhibition. The entrance to the 200 Trunks 200 Visionaries exhibition is free, but you have to book a time slot in advance which you can do here. However, they were very flexible at least with my time slot and allowed me in two hours prior to my booked slot when I just went in and asked. The Louis Vuitton 200 Trunks 200 Visionaries exhibition can be found in the old Barney's building at 660 Madison Avenue on Upper East Side, and it runs until the 31st of December 2022.
The Museum at FIT

Fashion Institute of Technology oli mulle entuudestaan tuttu vain yliopistona ja siksi mulle tulikin yllätyksenä että koulun yhteydessä on myös museo. Kävin katsomassa kenkiin keskittyvän Shoes: Anatomy, Identity, Magic -näyttelyn sekä Balenciagan ja Diorin designeja vierekkäin tarkastelevan Dior + Balenciaga: The Kings of Couture and their Legacies -näyttelyn. Kenkänäyttely on nähtävillä vielä vuoden 2022 loppuun asti, ja Dior + Balenciaga 6. marraskuuta asti. Myös tulevat näyttelyt kuulostavat mielenkiintoisilta, eli kannattaa ehdottomasti laittaa vierailu The Museum at FIT:ssa New Yorkin to do -listalle.
I knew Fashion Institute of Technology as a university only, and so it came as a surprise to me that there is also a museum at the premises. I went to view the Shoes: Anatomy, Identity, Magic exhibition which, as the name would suggest, is all about shoes. Another exhibition that's currently running at the Museum at FIT is Dior + Balenciaga: The Kings of Couture and their Legacies, which examines the designs of the two designers next to each other. The shoe exhibition runs until the end of 2022, whereas the Dior + Balenciaga one only until the 6th of November. However, the upcoming exhibitions also sound very interesting, so definitely put The Museum at FIT onto your New York to do list if you're in the city.
Ralph's Coffee
Ralph Lauren on ehkä yksi ikonisimpia jenkkibrändejä ja -suunnittelijoita, ja vuosien aikana brändi on laajentanut vaatteista kaikenlaisiin erilaisiin lifestyle-kategorioihin. Ralph Lauren is probably one of the most iconic American brands and designers, and throughout the years the brand has expanded from clothes to different lifestyle categories. One of them being the Ralph's Coffee cafes which you can find in multiple locations around New York. Alongside New York, there's a Ralphs Coffee also e.g. in London and Tokyo. Psst! Make sure to also check out The Polo Bar, which is Ralph Lauren's restaurant in New York.
The RealReal Flagship

The RealReal tunnetaan designer brändien second hand -verkkokauppana, mutta heillä on myös muutama kivijalkaliike New Yorkissa. Lippulaivaliike löytyy SoHosta, ja ainakin se on ehdottomasti käymisen arvoinen. Liikkeeseen on kuratoitu eri brändien vaatteita, laukkuja ja asusteita todella hyvällä maulla, ja liiketila itsessään on tyylikäs ja inspiroiva. Tuotteet on myös kivasti kuratoitu rekeille teemoittain, esimerkiksi "Y2K" ja "Cottage Weekend". Kannattaa siis pyörähtää, vaikka ei löytöjä tekisikään!

The RealReal is primarily knows as a designer second hand online store, but they've also got a few brick and mortar stores in New York. The flagship store is situated in SoHo, and at least that one is definitely worth a visit. The product selection is carefully curated and includes clothing, bags and accessories from various designers. And the space itself is beautiful and inspiring too. The products are nicely arranged according to different themes, such as 'Y2K' and 'Cottage Weekend'. Definitely worth a visit even if you don't find any second hand treasures!
