I love second hand shopping, and the feeling of scoring an amazing bargain feels just so rewarding to me. I've been doing second hand shopping at flea markets, in charity shops and vintage boutiques for as long as I can remember, and even as a child my friends and I often used to go on a second hand shopping spree on weekend mornings. Although there's not much praise to be awarded to the purchases of those times, now that I'm older I've got a better strategy and during the past few years I've found some real second hand treasures, of which I'm now sharing the top 10!
Pakko tietysti aloittaa tällä THE löydöllä, eli Chloén ihan mielettömän kauniilla sandaaleilla, jotka löytyi viime kesänä Nizzasta Dépôt-Vente Luxe Andréa T -vintageputiikista 49 eurolla. Nää on ihan ehdottomasti mun paras löytö ikinä, enkä malta odottaa että saan ottaa sandaalit taas tänä kesänä käyttöön.
Of course I have to start with THE find, namely these gorgeous Chloé sandals that I found last summer in Nice from a boutique called Dépôt-Vente Luxe Andréa T, and of which I paid a grand total of 49€. These are hands down my best find ever, and I can't wait to be able to take them out again this summer.
Tämä blogissakin moneen kertaan näkynyt valkoinen pellavableiseri löytyi pari vuotta sitten Kierrätyskeskuksesta. Tätä bleiseriä olen tosiaan käyttänyt super paljon, erityisesti kesäisin, ja tuun varmasti käyttämään vielä monta vuotta.
Then there's this white linen blazer that I found in my local Recycling Centre a couple of years ago, and which has been featured in many an outfit post already. I've been using this blazer a lot especially during the warm summer months, and I'm sure the same pattern will continue for years to come.
Samujin beige villapaita on puolestaan löytynyt Töölön Relovesta. Bongasin tämän eräästä rekistä 25€-hintalapulla varustettuna, ja vaikka oli kuuma kesäpäivä ja ulkona lähemmäs 30 astetta hellettä, niin nappasin villapaidan mukaan hetkeäkään epäröimättä. Ehdottomasti yksi mun lempparivillapaidoista!
I found this beige woollen jumper by a Finnish fashion brand Samuji from Relove second hand boutique in Töölö in Helsinki. I spotted this on a rail with a 25€ price tag attached to it, and although I remember it being closer to 30 degrees celsius outside, I didn't hesitate for a second to take this jumper with me. It is still one of my favourite jumpers to this day!
Glasgow'ssa on todella hyvät second hand -shoppailumahdollisuudet, ja tämä Banana Republicin samppanjan värinen silkkipaita löytyi Byres Roadin Oxfam -charity shopista. Rakastan paidan vaaleaa väriä, ja koska se on 100% silkkiä niin se on myös super mukava ja hengittävä päällä.
The Glasgow second hand shopping scene is pretty much an institution already, and this beautiful champagne toned silk shirt from Banana Republic was a find I made in the Byres Road Oxfam shop. I love the colour of this, and as it is 100% silk it is also super comfortable to wear and doesn't make you sweat.
Leviksen klassikkofarkkushortsit on nekin löytö Glasgow'sta, Glad Rags -nimisestä liikkeestä, joka listataan usein yhdeksi kaupungin parhaista second hand -liikkeistä. Liike oli itse asiassa mainittu yhdessä Voguen nettiartikkelissakin aikaisemmin keväällä! Olin jo pitkään haaveillut ja etsinyt tällaisia vintage-Leviksiä, joten olin todella onnellinen kun vihdoin löysin omani. Käytin näitä paljon viime kesänä, ja kyseessä on sen verran ikiklassikko että näille tulee varmasti käyttöä jokaikinen kesä aina tästä eteenpäinkin.
Another Glasgow second hand find: these classic Levi's denim shorts from Glad Rags, which is often dubbed as one of the city's best second hand shops and was even featured in an online Vogue article earlier this spring! I had been looking for a pair of vintage Levi's for quite a while, so I was thrilled to finally find a pair. I wore these a lot last summer, and as the shorts are so classic and timeless I'm predicting I will be wearing these a lot every single summer from here on as well.
Oon tehnyt Glasgow'sta myös muutaman todella hyvän kasmirneulelöydön, joista tämä musta pooloneule vie sen parhaimman tittelin. Melkein asun tässä läpi syksyn ja talven ja pitkälle kevääseen, koska ajaton musta pooloneule on niin monikäyttöinen ja sopii oikeastaan minkä tahansa alaosan kanssa. Korkea poolokaulus tietysti myös suojaa kylmää tuulta vastaan, mikä onkin ehkä se syy että juuri tämä kasmirneule on se mun suosikki.
I made some really good cashmere jumper finds in Glasgow, of which this black turtleneck one gets the title of the best one. I pretty much live in this all through autumn, winter and long into spring too. Black turtleneck jumper is just so versatile and goes with pretty much any bottom imaginable. And obviously the high turtleneck protects from the cold breeze, which is probably the reason that this exact cashmere jumper is my favourite.
Toinen mieletön designer-kenkälöytö on nämä Stuart Weitzmanin söpöillä hapsutupsuilla somistetut loafer-tyyliset kengät. Ostin nämä muutama vuosi sitten Beyond Retro -liikkeestä Lontoosta, jonne lähdettiin Glasgow'sta yöbussilla ystäväni Mariannan kanssa. Tuo koko reissu oli kyllä aikamoinen seikkailu, jota muistellaan huvituksen ja kauhun sekaisin fiiliksin edelleen, mutta reissun shoppailusaldo oli ainakin erittäin hyvä!
Another amazing designer shoe find I've made is this pair of Stuart Weitzman loafers with cute tassel details. I bought these a few years ago from Beyond Retro in London, where my friend Marianna and I travelled on a night bus from Glasgow. That whole trip was definitely an adventure, and we still sometimes reminisce that with both amused and terrified feelings. But the shopping on that trip was definitely successful!
Tämä Filippa K:n klassinen ja ajaton, puuvillainen, rento kauluspaita löytyi aikoinaan muistaakseni Kaivarin Kanuunasta. Jälleen kerran sellainen klassikkovaate joka ei nojaa vuodenaikoihin tai trendeihin näyttääkseen hyvältä, minkä vuoksi tämä on ollut ahkerassa käytössä ja tulee varmasti kulkemaan mun mukana vielä pitkään.
This classic, timeless and relaxed white cotton shirt by Filippa K was a purchase from a second hand shop Kaivarin Kanuuna in Helsinki, if I remember correctly. Another one of those classic pieces of clothing that doesn't rely on seasons or trends to look good and fashionable. And that's also why I've been wearing it a lot, and I'm sure this one will also be part of my wardrobe for many many years.
Oon selkeästi tehnyt paljon erityisen hyviä kenkälöytöjä! Nämä Pertti Palmrothin todella kauniit korolliset remmisandaalit löytyivät nekin Kierrätyskeskuksesta, ja kengillä oli hintaa 4 euroa. Kenkien malli on mielestäni ihan super kaunis, ja oli ihan huippua löytää tällaista perinteistä Suomi-designia!
I've clearly been making some really good second hand shoe finds! These beautiful strap heel sandals from the Finnish shoe brand Pertti Palmroth were also a find from Recycling Centre, and the price for these was 4€. I love the form of the shoe, and it was amazing to find a classic Finnish design piece like these!
Viimeiseksi vielä korulöytö, Kierrätyskeskuksesta tämäkin. Isot, kultaiset vintage-tyyliset laattakorvakorut on edelleen yksi mun suosikkeja mitä tulee korvakoruihin. Korviksilla on tosin painoa jonkin verran, minkä takia ne alkaa hieman jopa sattumaan korviin ainakin pitkinä päivinä. Siitä huolimatta näitä tulee kuitenkin käytettyä melko aktiivisesti, ja usein vain riisun korvakorut pois siinä vaiheessa kun olo alkaa tuntua epämukavalta.

And lastly a jewellery find, from Recycling Centre as well. The big, golden, vintage style plate studs are still one of my favourite pair of earrings. These are quite heavy though and they actually start to hurt my ears a little bit, especially if I've had them on for long. But despite that, I tend to wear these frequently, and often just take them off when the weight of them is starting to feel too uncomfortable.
